WebStages of sleep. A sleep study report describes the percentages of various sleep stages. The normal percentage of each stage is reported with the number of total REM Stage sleep cycles recorded overnight. In adults, approximately 5% of the total sleep time is Stage N1; 50% Stage N2; and 20% is Stage N3 sleep.
